Rahmi M. Koç
Honorary Chair
Rahmi M. Koç, The Koç Holding A.Ş. Honorary Chair and Member of the Board of Directors, was born in Ankara on October 9, 1930.
Koç studied Business Administration at John Hopkins University (USA) and after fulfilling his military service, in 1958, started his professional life in Otokoç, Ankara. He transferred to Koç Ticaret, Ankara, as representative of the Koç Group, in 1960. After the relocation of the Koç Holding headquarters from Ankara to Istanbul in 1964, he became the General Coordinator of Koç Holding A.Ş. In 1970 he served as the Chair of the Executive Committee; in 1975 as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors; and in 1980 as Chair of the Management Committee.
After the late Vehbi Koç stepped down from his duties as Chair of the Board of Directors on March 30, 1984, Rahmi M. Koç was elected as the new Chair. He served in this position until his retirement on April 4, 2003. After Mustafa V. Koç assumed the role of Chair of Board of Directors, Rahmi M. Koç continued to serve as a Member of the Board and was honoured with the title Honorary Chair.
